Backlink monitoring

Monitor your backlinks - not just check them once.

A backlink check gives you a snapshot. Sitebaze gives you the movement: which links appear, which ones disappear, which domains might hurt you - and which websites link to your competitors but not to you.

Plainly explained

What is backlink monitoring?

A backlink is a link from someone else’s website to yours. For Google, each one is a recommendation - which is why your link profile helps decide how well you rank. Backlink monitoring answers three questions: who links to you, how strong are those sources, and is anything in there doing damage?

Sitebaze checks your profile per scan and stores every measurement. So you see more than today’s number: referring domains across twelve months, new and lost links, how your anchor texts are distributed, and the domains that deserve a closer look.

  • Links and domains
  • New and lost
  • Risky domains
  • Link opportunities

Your link profile

Five numbers tell you where your profile stands.

Backlinks, referring domains, domain strength, dofollow share and the number of domains worth reviewing - each with history. More important than sheer volume is the count of referring domains: ten links from ten websites beat a hundred links from one.

  • Backlinks and referring domains, each with a trend curve
  • Domain strength from 0 to 100, with the change across twelve months
  • Dofollow share: how many of your links actually pass authority

New and lost

Every link with context - and you see what changes.

The link table shows the source page, the sentence around your link, the strength of the source, whether it passes authority and since when it exists. One click filters down to the two lists that matter most: newly gained and lost.

  • Filters for dofollow, nofollow, new and lost links
  • Link context: the sentence your link sits in, with its anchor text
  • Source strength, placement and date for every link

Risk and anchors

Spot bad links before they cost you.

Sitebaze flags suspicious domains for review and links straight into Google’s disavow tool - the decision stays with you. Plus your anchor text distribution: a natural profile is dominated by brand and URL anchors, not by the same keyword over and over.

  • Domains to review, sorted by how suspicious they look
  • Direct path into Google’s disavow tool
  • Anchor text distribution with guidance on what is normal

Link opportunities

These websites link to your competitors - not to you.

Sitebaze compares your link profile with your link neighbours and lists the websites that link to several of your competitors but not to you. It is the most concrete list link building can give you: these sites demonstrably link into your industry.

  • Websites linking to your competitors but not to you
  • Per opportunity: domain strength and how many competitors it links to
  • Sortable by type of site - blogs, directories, shops

Risky domains in view.

Suspicious sources are flagged and linked straight into Google’s disavow tool. Sitebaze decides nothing for you - it shows you where to look.

Backlink monitoring

Frequently asked questions
about backlink monitoring.

What is backlink monitoring?

The systematic tracking of all links pointing from other websites to yours: who links to you, how strong those sources are, whether they pass authority (dofollow) and whether anything in there could hurt you. Sitebaze stores every check, so you see the movement rather than a single snapshot.

How do I monitor my backlinks?

You create your project and start a scan - Sitebaze pulls your link profile from professional backlink data. No code on your website is required, and you do not need Search Console access for it. Depending on plan, 6 to 30 checks per month are included.

Is the backlink tool free?

No - backlinks are included from the Solo plan (€39 per month), not in the Free plan. You can try Solo free for seven days and review your full link profile in that time. Permanently free in the Free plan are the site audit, website monitoring and rank tracking for 10 keywords.

What is the difference between backlinks and referring domains?

Backlinks are all individual links, referring domains the number of distinct websites behind them. A hundred links from a single website are worth far less to Google than ten links from ten different sites - which makes the domain count the more meaningful number.

What do dofollow and nofollow mean?

A dofollow link passes recommendation strength to your page; a nofollow link tells Google not to. A healthy profile contains both. Sitebaze shows the share and, per link, which type it is.

How do I spot harmful backlinks?

Typical warning signs are links from obvious link networks, topically unrelated sites and masses of links using the same keyword as anchor. Sitebaze flags suspicious domains for review and links into Google’s disavow tool - the decision to disavow a link is always yours.

What are link opportunities?

Websites that link to several of your competitors but not to you. Sitebaze compares your profile with your link neighbours to find them. It is the most practical starting point for link building, because those sites demonstrably link into your industry.

How often is my backlink data updated?

Not continuously, but per check: you start a scan and that state is stored. Depending on plan, 6 to 30 checks per month are included and history goes back 30 to 365 days. The referring-domain curve looks back twelve months.
